Native solid CAD. Preferred — exact surfaces, no export tessellation to get wrong.

Modern mesh container. Carries units reliably, unlike STL.
OBJ.obj
Common from sculpting and scanning tools.
Drawings and specs come along for the ride: attach a PDF, PNG or JPG to any part for tolerances, thread callouts or finish notes, and the shop sees them with the job.

What drives the price
Six inputs, all of them yours to change in the configurator. Nothing is hidden behind a sales call — the full rate card is on the pricing page.
Volume, not weight
We price the solid volume of your model in cm³, because that is what drives machine time and filament on an FDM printer. A tall hollow part costs far less than its bounding box suggests. PLA starts at $0.035/cm³.
Material
Every material is a published multiplier on the PLA rate — engineering filaments cost more to buy, run slower and hotter, and fail more often. The materials guide has strength and heat-resistance figures for all of them.
Layer height (quality)
Thinner layers mean more passes and more hours: Fine 1.80×, Standard 1.15×, Draft 0.82×. Most functional parts do not need the finest setting.
Infill density
How solid the inside is: Light (15%) 0.92×, Standard (25%) 1.00×, Strong (50%) 1.38×. Light for cosmetic parts, Strong for anything load-bearing.
Quantity
The bulk discount applies automatically across every part in the cart, from −5% at 6 units to −40% at 5,000+. You never have to ask for it.
Turnaround
Standard is free. Expedited is +30% (minimum $35) and Rush is +60% (minimum $60) on the parts subtotal — the minimum is what you actually pay on a small order, so a rush prototype is priced by the minimum, not the percentage.
A real number, for calibration
Our disclosed reference part is a 7.8 cm³ bracket (50×30×40 mm) at standard quality and standard infill. In PLA it prices at $4.11 per part; in PA6-CF carbon-fiber nylon, $10.27. Add the $5.00 setup fee per order, and note the $20 order minimum — a single small prototype lands on the floor rather than below it.

Printing happens on our own fleet in Miramar, San Diego — nothing is brokered out, which is why a one-to-two day turnaround is a real option rather than a checkbox.

Business days, counted from payment. Tiers describe production time; add transit if you are shipping. Local pickup at 7950 Silverton Ave Ste 205, San Diego is free during our pickup window (M–F, 10am–3pm). Large production runs are scheduled against real capacity instead of the flat tier — the confirmation gives you the real date rather than a number the shop cannot hit.
What happens after you place the order
Confirmation, immediately. You get an order number on screen and a confirmation email with the line items, the total paid and your estimated ready date.
The file goes to the queue. Your geometry is checked for printability problems on the way in. If something would print badly — a wall too thin to survive, an unsupported overhang — we contact you before burning material, not after.
It prints here. On our own machines, in Miramar. Runs over 50 parts get a first-article review first: you approve one real part in your hands before the rest of the batch starts.
Post-processing and QC. Supports removed, any heat-set inserts or hardware installed, parts checked against the model before they are packed.
Shipped or ready for pickup. We email you when the order ships, with the carrier and a tracking number, or when it is staged at the counter if you chose local pickup.

Instant quote questions
How does an instant 3D printing quote actually work?+
Your file is parsed in the browser, so we measure the real solid volume of the model rather than asking you to describe it. That volume feeds the same pricing engine an operator uses internally: material rate per cm³, layer-height and infill multipliers, quantity discount, turnaround tier, $5.00 setup fee, shipping and 7.75% CA sales tax. There is no human in the loop and no quote request to wait on.
What file formats can I upload for a 3D print quote?+
STL, STEP (.step / .stp), OBJ, and 3MF are all supported directly. Unlike many competitors, we do not require STL-only — native CAD files work fine. Maximum upload size is 100 MB per file.
Do I have to give you my email to see the price?+
No. The price is on screen at the Configure step, before the Review and Checkout steps ask for any contact or delivery details. You can price a job, close the tab, and never hear from us.
Is the instant quote the final price?+
Yes, for anything the printers can take as-is. The number in the bar is the bookable total. The two things that can change it are both disclosed before you pay: a part larger than our single-piece build volume needs a designed split (a flat $25 per unit), and a part with a printability problem gets flagged in the quote rather than silently printed badly. Every order also clears a $20 minimum.
I don't have a CAD file — can you still make the part?+
Yes. Send a sample, a sketch with dimensions, or a reference photo and we will model it. Photo-to-CAD and reverse-engineering from samples are part of our CAD design service, billed hourly and quoted separately from the print.
Can I get a quote for a production run, not a prototype?+
Yes, and it is the same tool — quantity discounts are built into the engine and apply automatically from 6 units up to 5,000+. On runs over 50 parts we do a first-article review, so you approve one real part in your hands before the rest of the batch prints. Large runs are scheduled against real capacity rather than the flat turnaround tier, and we confirm the date with you.
