CAPABILITIES

What Lab and Instrument Teams Send Us

The parts that sit around the science: the housings, holders and fixtures that every new assay, reader or bench setup needs and no catalog carries in the right size.

Instrument Enclosures and Housings

Benchtop instrument housings, reader and analyzer covers, and electronics enclosures with cutouts for displays, ports and cable glands. Fit checked against your model before it ships.

Custom Racks, Holders and Bench Fixtures

Tube and vial racks in the exact pitch your workflow uses, plate and cartridge holders, sensor mounts, and jigs that hold a part still while you test it.

Prototype Parts for New Instruments

Iterate a mechanism, a cartridge, a manifold or a pump housing in days instead of waiting on machined or molded parts. Rush tiers when a review is on the calendar.

Short Runs of Custom Consumable Holders

Ten to a few thousand of a holder, adapter or cover with no tooling and no minimum order quantity, with a first article approved before the run.

Prototype design for lab hardware, sketch to finished part

Most lab fixtures start as a sketch on a whiteboard or a part that broke and is no longer made. Our CAD team models it, our scanning service captures an existing part as editable CAD, and both hand straight off to printing. One order, one point of contact, from idea to the part on your bench.

  • Sketch or photo in, print-ready STEP out

First drafts usually within 48 hours, revisions included.

  • Broken or obsolete part

Scanned to parametric CAD at ±0.1 mm, then reprinted or redesigned.

  • Design-for-printing review on every quote

Wall thickness, overhangs and fit flagged before you pay.

MATERIALS

Materials for the Bench

Seven of the eleven materials we print earn their place in a lab. Heat-deflection figures come straight from our materials guide.

Biotech and lab 3D printing FAQ

What lab and biotech parts does TAKT 3D print?+
Instrument enclosures and covers, custom tube and vial racks, plate and cartridge holders, sensor and camera mounts, bench-test fixtures, and prototype parts for new instruments. All of it is bench hardware: nothing we print contacts a patient or goes inside a body.
Can you design the part if we only have a sketch or a broken original?+
Yes. Our CAD team turns sketches, photos and reference parts into print-ready models at $125/hr with the first 15 minutes of scoping free, and our scanning service reverse-engineers an existing part into editable CAD. Both hand off directly to printing, so one order covers design through finished parts.
Which materials hold up to solvents, cleaning agents and heat?+
PETG is the workhorse for parts that get wiped down with common lab cleaners. PC adds impact strength and transparent options. For heat, PAHT-CF (190°C heat deflection) and PPS-CF (250°C) are the top of our range, and PPS-CF is also the most chemically resistant material we print. Material selection is part of the review on every quote.
Are your printed parts sterile, autoclavable or certified biocompatible?+
No. FDM parts are layered and not sealed, we do not certify sterilization or biocompatibility, and we are not an FDA-registered or ISO 13485 manufacturer. Customers validate fitness for their own process. If a part needs to survive repeated heat cycles, PAHT-CF and PPS-CF are the materials to test first.
How fast can you turn around a lab fixture or prototype?+
Standard turnaround is 5–7 business days. Expedited (3 days) is +30% (minimum $35); rush (1–2 days) is +60% (minimum $60). Local pickup at our Miramar shop is free, or we ship UPS nationwide.
