What we do

TAKT 3D is a production 3D printing manufacturer. Our San Diego facility runs a monitored print farm of enclosed FDM systems, and the same platform that gives you an instant quote schedules the job onto those machines, tracks it through production, and ships it. Work stays in house from file review to the packed box.

We specialize in FDM — what ISO/ASTM 52900 calls material extrusion — across 11 engineering materials, from PLA and PETG through ABS, PC, TPU, and carbon-fiber composites up to PPS-CF. That covers everything from a one-off fit check to production runs in the thousands — with no tooling to cut and no mold to amortize, a design revision costs nothing but the next print.

Alongside printing we deliver CAD design and modeling, 3D scanning and reverse engineering, and design-for-additive consultation — the engineering practice also trades as 037 Designs. When a part genuinely calls for a process we do not run, we say so up front; there is an honest breakdown in FDM vs SLA.

Our clients span aerospace, medical devices, electronics, robotics, drone and UAV, automotive, and industrial equipment — engineering teams at universities and public companies, contract manufacturers, product designers, and consumer brands whose parts ship inside a finished product. Why our pricing is public

Most job shops quote-gate: you send a file, wait a day, and get a number with no breakdown. We publish every per-cm³ rate, the flat $5 setup fee, the volume discount ladder, and the rush surcharges, because the alternative makes it impossible for you to sanity-check what you are paying for. The numbers on this site are generated from the same pricing engine that runs the instant quote tool, so a page and a checkout cannot drift apart.

Working with procurement

Quotes are issued in writing and hold their pricing. We accept purchase orders, card, and ACH, and extend net terms to qualified accounts. Every order gets a client portal login with live status, downloadable files, invoices, and shipment tracking, so a buyer can answer “where is it?” without opening an email thread. Volume programs and recurring release schedules are quoted through mass production.

How we publish

Every guide in our blog and guides section is written from parts that ran on our own machines — the insert that spun out, the STL that arrived at 1/25th scale, the PLA bracket that crept in a hot car. Where a claim comes from published research or a standards body rather than our production floor, we cite it inline so you can check it yourself.
